Abilene Middle School is seeking an Assistant Track Coach for the upcoming spring 2027 season. Abilene Middle School is committed to developing student-athletes through a positive, growth-minded approach that prepares them for success both on and off the track. We are looking for an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about working with middle school athletes, building relationships, teaching the fundamentals of track & field, and helping continue the growth of our program.  This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated coach to join a dedicated staff and play an important role in developing our track program.

 

Duties of the position include (but are not limited to):

• Teaching and modeling the Abilene Athletics & Activities core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.
• Coaching in a transformative manner that builds strong relationships and helps student-athletes grow not only as competitors but also as people.
• Teaching track & field fundamentals, event-specific techniques, and proper training habits appropriate for middle school athletes.
• Preparing and implementing efficient, focused practices that emphasize skill development, technique, effort, and continuous improvement.
• Working collaboratively with the head coach and coaching staff to provide a positive and developmentally appropriate experience for all student-athletes.
• Supporting the development of a vertically aligned track & field program that prepares athletes for continued success at the high school level.
• Providing positive leadership, organization, and encouragement while helping create a culture of excellence within the program.
• Following all policies and guidelines set forth by KSHSAA, USD 435, and Abilene Middle School.
